Yirra Yaakin
Yirra Yaakin (Yir-raarh Yaarh-kin) means “Stand Tall” in Noongar. Based in the heart of the Noongar Nation – a distinct Aboriginal cultural group from the south-west of Western Australia – Yirra Yaakin is Australia’s biggest Aboriginal-led theatre company. Yirra Yaakin has been producing award-winning, world-class theatre, sharing Aboriginal stories through exciting, entertaining, educational and authentic new works since 1993.
Moogahlin
Moogahlin Performing Arts Incorporated is New South Wales’ leading first people’s performing arts company. Moogahlin was formed in November 2007, by a group of first people’s artists, educators and community workers at the request of the late Kevin Smith and in honour of the founding members of the National Black Theatre. We are based on Gadigal country in Redfern, Sydney. Moogahlin (muu-garl-in) is a Yuin/Bundjalung word meaning to play, to fool about.
