We are Gunai/Kurnai, the First People of our Country. We have survived for tens of thousands of years, often against great adversity. We have looked after our Country and passed on our stories and traditions through countless generations. We continue to survive and thrive, maintaining connection to our Country and to our ancestors.
This page was created in partnership with the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC). It holds cultural knowledge and information that belongs to both the Gunai and Kurnai peoples and was provided and approved by GLaWAC to be presented on the Gunai/Kurnai country Page. Out of respect to both mobs the page will reference them as Gunai/Kurnai unless a distinction is necessary.
These pages may hold conflicting information with other Nations. We understand this but recognise that the information provided to us is true to the knowledge of the community members who have helped create this.
This is designed to help our children & young people in out-of-home care reconnect to their culture and understand who they are and where they come from. For further information regarding our mob, contact one of the community organisations listed in the services section.
